STATEMENT

After I got my degree in art, I worked to live. Raising a family and working as a preschool teacher didn’t stop my art making but time was limited.  So when the nest emptied and the teaching burned out, I returned to love and learn new things with new life and energy. I have had the great fortune of being taught by many excellent teachers and exceptional artists in college and in my life. Now I feel the whole puzzle coming together.

My current way of working has evolved from my formal art training in printmaking, my love of fabric, surface design and simple experimentation. I use dyes, paints, hand and machine sewing, paper, fiber and fabrics to make heartfelt pieces mainly in a mixed media format.
I may have an image in my head at the beginning, but going with the flow is magical. I work slowly with no real destination, and I work deeply and intuitively, I love the stitching and the handling of cloth. It is peaceful and meditative.
